Vietnam's molecular diagnostics sector is creating growing demand for real-time PCR (qPCR) and digital PCR (dPCR) across infectious disease testing, oncology, genetic research and precision medicine.

Dedicated Vietnam market research confirms an established dPCR and qPCR market, although publicly available reports do not disclose a definitive combined national revenue figure. Based on available country-specific and regional data, the Vietnamese dPCR and real-time PCR market is estimated at approximately US$35–50 million in 2025, with the potential to reach US$50–70 million by 2030.

The opportunity sits within Vietnam's wider molecular diagnostics market, valued at US$108.5 million in 2025 and forecast to reach US$175.6 million by 2034.

Real-time PCR remains the more established technology, supporting applications including infectious disease detection, viral-load monitoring, genetic testing, oncology and research. Vietnam's qPCR reagents market alone was valued at US$6.61 million in 2024 and is forecast to reach US$9.70 million by 2032.

Digital PCR represents the faster-emerging opportunity. By partitioning samples into thousands of individual reactions, dPCR enables highly sensitive and precise absolute quantification of DNA and RNA. This makes it increasingly valuable for liquid biopsy, rare-mutation detection, cancer research, infectious diseases, copy-number analysis and cell and gene therapy research.

Vietnam-specific market research identifies precision medicine, expanding life-science R&D and demand for more advanced diagnostic technologies among the factors supporting adoption.

International companies active across the PCR ecosystem include Thermo Fisher Scientific, Bio-Rad Laboratories, QIAGEN, Roche, Abbott, Agilent Technologies and bioMérieux, with Bio-Rad, Thermo Fisher and QIAGEN particularly important in the developing digital-PCR segment.

For Vietnam, the opportunity extends across PCR instruments, dPCR platforms, reagents and consumables, assays, primers and probes, automation, molecular diagnostics and associated laboratory software.

As Vietnam expands its molecular-diagnostics and life-sciences capabilities, PCR is evolving from an established laboratory technology into a more sophisticated precision-diagnostics platform — with digital PCR representing one of its most promising growth areas.
